Sowden & Sowden work with iconic venue to launch sell-out event

Sowden & Sowden are gearing up for some of the most hotly anticipated events of the moment, to launch next week.

It was announced at the weekend that triple BRIT Award winners, Kaiser Chiefs, will take to The New Adelphi Club stage on Friday 3 October to perform to a crowd of 200. The news was broke on Friday that the band, who have never played in Hull previously, will perform as part of the #Adelphi30 celebrations, which will see 7 days, 7 events dedicated to celebrating the iconic The New Adelphi Club’s 30th Anniversary.

With organisers remaining tight lipped on the act, many speculated as to who the act might be in the run-up; with The New Adelphi Club webpage receiving a staggering 1,987 unique visitors; an increase of over 80%. Social channels also generated 71,046 Facebook reach and 550 retweets during the week.

The announcement did not disappoint; the event was a sell-out in two hours. People interested in purchasing tickets for the event could do so from the ‘Ticket Box’ – a huge orange shipping container located in the car park of the iconic venue.Hull bands LIFE and The Black Delta Movement (Bridge Stage winners) will support the act on the night.

On October 1st 2014, The Adelphi Club in Hull will celebrate 30 years as a small underground live music venue. A steadfast member of the scene since 1984, the venue, alongside its brother and sister venues dotted around the UK, has provided a platform for the careers of bands such as Radiohead, Stone Roses, Pulp, Primal Scream, Oasis, The Housemartins, Green Day, Pavement, The Manics, Inspirals, My Bloody Valentine to name just a few.

On a local level the club has particular cultural significance in the lives of many thousands who have been inspired to play or engage with the community venue.

Polly Sowden, of Sowden & Sowden said: “The New Adelphi Club is instilled in the hearts of many and it’s the place that many friendships, careers and even marriages have been formed. We’re delighted to have been a part of Paul Jackson’s vision for the 30th Anniversary celebrations and we look forward to the next!”
