‘SOMETHING’S CHANGED’: 40 YEARS OF THE ADELPHI CLUB

In the heart of Hull, there’s a place where music has lived, breathed, and grown for four decades. The New Adelphi Club is at the epicentre of the world’s music scene, providing a stage for emerging talent and the rise of some of the world’s most legendary music artists.

It’s a space where dreams have been chased, stories have been written, and every chord struck has added another chapter to this iconic club’s rich history.

But something’s changed.

We had a very productive day back on 12 November 2022

The A Team hired a van and drove to Sheffield where they were escorted to a secret, remote location high up in the Peak District. They then loaded up 15 of Pulp’s original flight cases. Thanks for the donation Pulp!

Pulp, one of the most influential British bands of all time, played at The Adelphi many times between 1984 and 1993 on their rise to greatness. These flight cases have crisscrossed the globe on their world tours, and now they’ve found their final destination at The New Adelphi Club.

What this means for you…

When you visit, you’ll see the flight cases have been converted into a unique structure in the club’s main room bar.  The original customs stickers and livery serve as a reminder of the journeys these cases have taken, making the bar itself a piece of musical memorabilia.

It’s a Different Class. They serve all your favourite drinks!

You’re now ordering a drink from a bar that has seen more miles, more stages, and more stories than most people will in a lifetime.

They’ve stocked up, doubled up, and levelled up. From spirits and craft cans to bottles, wine (of all varieties!!), ciders, snacks, and merch, to a range of cask ales (of course) and draught lagers.

The new bar has also been refitted with a state-of-the-art hygiene safety floor, a new glass-washer machine, coolers, optics, LED lighting, and display cabinets – showcasing the UK Grassroots Music Venue of the Year Award and not forgetting Paul Jackson’s  Outstanding Achievement Award from the Music Venue Trust.

Happy 40th birthday Adelphi and thanks for the journey

Something that’s always set The Adelphi apart is the club’s commitment to the community and they always partner with local suppliers.

A special heads up from Adelphi to Andy and Chris Dimmack for their continued contribution.

Thanks to Dave from Total Flooring, Joynson’s Catering Equipment, The Wood Shop and the Common People like Pete and Gary and Al, Ruby, Jack and Louis from Sowdens who’ve helped bring this transformation to life.

It’s partnerships like these that remind us of the global cultural significance that The Adelphi Club has played for the past four decades.

We hope this will see us to our 50th anniversary!

We’re proud to play a small part in the Adelphi journey as it steps into its next chapter. Take a look through our past projects with The Adelphi Club here.
