Just when we thought 2022 couldn’t get any better, we’re finishing on a high here at Sowdens. And there are so many good reasons to celebrate as we head towards Christmas!

To start with, our very own business oracle and creative legend Paul Sowden has made it on to BusinessWorks’ list of Top 20 Most Inspirational Business Leaders. This comes just months after Polly Sowden secured a front cover feature in BusinessWorks’ Summer edition magazine.

It’s a much-deserved nod for Paul, who founded our amazing agency back in 1982. Over the past 40 years, he’s earned a reputation for an extraordinary output and helped to grow brands and businesses in diverse markets.   

The timing’s also perfect, having celebrated our 40th anniversary back in July. We asked Paul what advice he’d give to budding entrepreneurs and marketeers: “If there’s any secret formula to longevity, it’s to innovate, not stand still and enjoy what you do.” Fine words indeed.

And we’re hoping that the New Year will also get off to a flyer as we’ve been shortlisted for Best Small Digital Agency at the Northern Digital Awards. Come January, we’ll be proudly representing East Yorkshire against some of the UK’s most innovative digital marketeers. We’re hoping that the ‘Digital Warriors of the North’ will come out on top.  

But regardless of what happens, we know everyone is already a winner here at Sowdens. We’d like to end an incredible 2022 by sending a shoutout to our amazing staff in our own awards ceremony – they come and do their best work with us every single day and always push us to achieve more. October’s Employee of the Month – THREE-time ‘idea of the month’ winner and one-of-a-kind creative, Al tackles every job with an innovative and unique approach, and always has our backs.

Jo
January’s Employee of the Month – Jo is Sowdens’ ROCK and the wheel that keeps us all turning. Accurate, super intelligent and a complete whizz with new contract proposals. Thanks for 13 years’ commitment, Jo. 

Ryan
Superhuman Spreadsheet Strategist – Ryan faces digital marketing challenges in ways no other human thought possible. He’s our in-house boundary breaker and it’s like having an AI-powered co-pilot on tap. 
 

Daisy
November’s Employee of the Month – Like an incredible boomerang of positivity, Daisy’s been with us before, but is still officially our newest team member. She hit the ground running, juggling motherhood and agency life, and it feels like she’s never been away.

Andy
TWO-TIME winner of Employee of the Month – our resident copywriter always plays a leading role. And what’s more, his sense of humour makes him an unparalleled morale-lifter, just what we needed when the days have been getting darker.

Chloe
April’s Employee of the month – Digital supremo Chlo is powered by digital results (with a creative edge) and is trusted to deliver killer digital campaigns across any sector and audience! Oh, and she’s also partial to a ‘Fat Friday’.

Ruby
TWO-TIME winner of Employee of the month – up-and-coming Sowdens firecracker Ruby is always eager to take on the next challenge and has worked her way up to fully fledged Account Manager. There’s no stopping her!

Laura
June’s Employee of the month – Smooth Operator Laura always keeps her cool and rises to the challenge. In fact, she never breaks a sweat no matter how tricky things get.

Guy
Sowdens’ 007 man of mystery – Our very own quiet assassin from the side-lines, our Studio team just wouldn’t be the same without Guy. Does this man ever get flustered? Thankfully not as he hammers out awesome creative day after day.

Louis
Gluey Louis – he’s the cement mixer that helps binds us together, helping to grow our print and production side behind the scenes. What’s more, we love the fact that Louis always dresses for the season, be it Halloween, summer or Christmas.

Chris
The Sowdens’ Onion – a man of many talents, you just keep peeling back the layers on the onion that is Chris. Plus, he’s always on call to help with any request, no matter how big or small. Thanks for everything, Chris.

Beth
February’s Employee of the Month – There’s no mountain too high for our Beth, who’s winning attitude makes her the June Osborne of getting stuff done! She’s also the Ogilvy of ideas in the making, the Duracell bunny of hard work, and quite simply, a joy to be around.

Rach
Best Creative Mentor – Not only did she look glowing after welcoming little Evie to the world, but Rach is always quick to impart knowledge in the Studio. You’re one of a kind, Rach! 

Steve
Creative Megamind – No matter the deadline, no matter how crazy the brief, Steve never fails to pull it out of the bag. And who could forget the maestro’s work on our 40th birthday vid? Not a dry eye in the house.
