Read moreHumber Business Week kicked off at the KC Stadium on Monday with a record breaking 360 delegates turning up for the Bondholders launch event appropriately themed ‘Opportunity Knocks’, that aimed to showcase the wealth of opportunity across the region and the energy of the people driving forward the area’s exciting revival.
Thanks to guest appearances from Hull-born comedian Lucy Beaumont and host, Grimsby comedian, Lloyd Griffith, the Opportunity Knocks show had an energetic and hilarious start.
Whilst the delivery mechanic of the show was fun there was an important undertone about the opportunistic region we live and work in. Speakers from business backgrounds as diverse as international banking and local floristry were there as we heard about their opportunities and what the future holds. ‘Opportunity’ is a key message during Biz Week.
Bondholders wanted to know what our local businesses have planned next, and how they’re going to continue to ride the wave that has been building momentum in the Humber over the last few years.
The breakfast event hosted a performance from Northern Lights Drama, a young production from the region’s school children. The drama school is keen to bring back the ‘Speech and Drama Festival’ for 2017 Hull. The same went for Opera North – the only organisation of its kind in the north of England.
Bondholders didn’t just want to hear from a panel though. They asked the whole audience to submit an answer to the question, ‘What would you like to see happen in the region in the next 5 years?’ and display their answers on a huge Opportunity Knocks wall.
This week is jam packed with events! One event that is definitely in our calendars though is the Biz Week aftershow party, which we’re hosting at Kardomah94 on Friday at 6.30pm. Folk and Funk will be a chance to unwind after a busy week of networking and running around the region. Make sure you catch us there and let us know how Biz Week has gone for you.
