From the Adelphi to Arizona

The Adelphi goes across international waters.

Around this time last year The New Adelphi Club celebrated its 30th birthday and from that came a film. A film that encompassed everything the Adelphi stood for, what it was and why it must stay open for generations to come. It included rare interviews with artists such as the Housemartins, unique live footage of the Kaiser Chiefs playing to a sell-out crowd and it underlined the value of independent music venues across the UK.

And now it’s in Arizona at the Tucson Film & Music Festival.

Mark Richardson (or codhead as we know him) is the man behind the short 22-minute documentary,“It’s ludicrous and exciting that people a long way from De Grey Street will experience the sights and sounds of a great Adelphi night. This North American film festival celebrates the independent artistic spirit so I hope they connect with and appreciate the work of Paul Jackson and comprehend the difference one man’s vision can make to the musical culture of a city. Maybe the film will inspire an Arizona version of ‘Jacko’ (Paul Jackson)… Imagine that!”

The film itself was screened at the festival last Thursday (9th October) in the category Documentary Shorts Programme in a 600 seat theatre in Tucson.

Nice one Mark.
