Every year people eagerly await the arrival of the famous Coca-Cola advert with the iconic ‘Holidays are coming’ jingle, which, for a lot of people, signifies the start of the festive season. But in recent years the supermarkets seem to be stealing the limelight and now that we are less than three weeks away from the big day, the battle for the best Christmas campaign is well underway.
Out of the ‘Big 4’ supermarkets Sainsbury’s produced an amazing cinematic advert with a song by James Corden titled ‘The greatest gift I can give is me.’ But the cartoon later caused outrage with the general public for being hypocritical, find out why here.
With the ‘Big 4’ contenders out of the running, in my opinion Aldi has won Christmas all round, with their fully integrated Christmas campaign which translates through to their in-store decorations as well as their product offerings. The budget supermarket has definitely taken the crown for best Christmas campaign of 2016. Their TV and radio ads are as festive as they come, with Academy Award winning actor Jim Broadbent narrating the adventures of ‘Kevin the Carrot’ over the infamous and well-loved score of the Home Alone films in the background, they have not fallen short of Christmas creativity this year.
If you haven’t seen it yet take a look at the Christmas ad created from the very different perspective of ‘Kevin the Carrot’ by clicking here.
There are so many other Christmas campaigns to choose from so here is a selection box of some more festive cheer:
