Education marketing that gets results

When we won the contract to promote the brand new Ron Dearing UTC we were over the moon. Not only was it a great opportunity to work with some of the biggest employers in our area including KCOM, RB, Siemens, Smith & Nephew and Spencer Group, we shared their vision for offering a totally new type of education for young people that plugs the gaps between learning and employment.

Our campaign so far has been hugely successful, resulting in double the number of applicants than our original target of 150. The UTC has now applied to the DfE for an additional 50 places, taking their intake to 100 students in Year 10 and 100 students in Year 12 when the school opens in September. Our campaign has included launching a brand new website, prospectus, other marketing collateral and a digital campaign. We’ve also event managed three open events hosted at the University of Hull, where we planned a structured day so that students and parents could get a taste for what the school will offer.

Headteacher, Sarah Pashley said, “We expected the UTC to be popular, but we’ve been surprised about how quickly the applications have come in.” Each of the open events attracted more than 200 parents and students who have been blown away by the offer: “The commitment and investment from the businesses involved is second to none…I’m really impressed. This will be a fantastic opportunity for my children to get into industry in either engineering or digital technology.”
